Dr. Mia Mulrennan, Psy.D.

Dr. Mia Mulrennan has had a unique career. She has worked in two industries for over 25 years: Organizational Psychology and the Travel and Hospitality Industry. She has worked as an organizational psychologist and travel psychology consultant in a variety of roles and settings, including a high-profile list of Fortune 500 companies.

After working in outplacement consulting in her hometown of New York City, Dr. Mulrennan moved to the Twin Cities where she spent years developing and implementing models for top-notch service delivery and talent practices in the hotel and hospitality, retail, and restaurant industries. She began her career in hospitality and worked at Marriott Corporation and at two exclusive luxury properties: The Whitney Hotel and The Saint Paul Hotel. While at The Saint Paul Hotel, her efforts directly led to the property earning 3M Corporation’s Service Excellence Award for six consecutive years.

After receiving her doctorate in clinical psychology, Mia began consulting in Travel and Hospitality Psychology and Talent and Leadership Development, helping organizations optimize their brand, company culture and executive-level strategies utilizing business psychology. She worked for several top consulting firms including PDI, Korn Ferry, and Right Management. Dr. Mulrennan has helped countless professionals improve their work lives and careers. Referred to as “the thinking person’s executive coach,” her mantra is, “If you want to succeed in business, make it your business to understand people, including and especially yourself.” She has a particular passion for Generation X and women leaders, and wrote the Amazon Hot New Release in business in 2015 titled Passed Over and Pissed Off: The Overlooked Leadership Talents of Generation X.

In 2013, Dr. Mulrennan launched her own dynamic consulting services firm, Rave-Worthy, LLC. Her company transforms the art of hospitality using the science of psychology. How? By applying tenets of psychology to business leadership, employee motivation, and customer satisfaction so her client’s customers return, leaders learn, teams shine and revenues climb. In addition to consulting services, Rave-Worthy’s primary product is a screening and development survey for hiring and developing customer-centric talent which is based on 32 years of research. She has successfully partnered with hundreds of leaders and dozens of companies – globally and across a wide range of industries – in assessing and developing their talent, growing their leadership, and providing rave-worthy service.

She was a founding professor in the Masters of Global Hospitality Leadership Program at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and in 2016, was honored with the Georgetown University Teaching Excellence Award in that program.

She has held executive-level roles as Chief HR Officer for Sun Country Airlines and is currently CHRO for Star Restaurant Group in Washington, D.C.
